Custom glass fabrication solutions for every industry

The traditional fragmented supply chain

If the design requirements on your project are similar to prototypes or low-volume parts generated before you consolidated glass fabrication processes on an OEM basis, then the supply chain for custom glass fabrication typically looks like this: Vendor A supplies rough-cut glass. Vendor B takes it from there with the forming process. Vendor C finishes it in a sputtering or coating machine. Vendor D applies ink and etch. For small runs, this setup begins on one vendor’s table, but ends on another. The whole supply chain features variability, making the final quality and lead time uncertain.

CNC machining center workshop

Our integrated manufacturing advantage

So we integrated. All steps, from CNC glass cutting and precision edging at 0.05mm, to high-temperature chemical tempering in our potassium nitrate furnaces, to the application of mist-free antireflective and anti-glare coatings, take place in our doors, under one quality management system (ISO 9001:2015), overseen by a single project engineer-fellowship responsible for your order from schematic review to delivery. The benefits: dimensional tolerances five times tighter, optical characteristics five times more consistent, and prototype-finished production-cycle time fifteen times faster than the split-supply alternative.

Fully automatic ten tank cleaning equipment

Technical Deep-Dive: Chemical Strengthening Process

Our chemical stressing process uses potassium nitrate ion exchange at 380-420 C. Larger potassium ions replace smaller sodium ions in the glass surface, causing a deeper, higher, and more stable compressive stress (CS) layer while maintaining >89% optical transmittance. The result: a glass panel with a deep, high, and stable CS exceeding 450MPa and DOL greater than 8 microns giving you 4-5x the impact resistance of untreated glass, without optical distortion or thermal distortion. This process—called chemical tempering—is essential when your cover glass must stand up to constant motion, vibration, and thermal cycling, such as automotive displays, industrial touchscreens, and medical instrumentation. Unlike physical temperature, chemical tempering works on OEM-precoated U1-U4 flat with 0.4mm thickness.

Where do you notice the gap between glass trader and a full-capability glass fabricator? When you qualify a new product, you need an OEM that can trace your raw glass lot number through every processing stage, rather than three different factories and transit times of 3-5 days each. With our single-facility processing, your project manager receives the product history from raw lot through all treatment steps ready for your quality management system. Corrective action takes hours, not weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of custom glass can SW Glass fabricate?

We produce cover glass, tempered glass panels, AG/AR/AF-coated glass, ITO conductive glass, and silk-screened glass. Materials include Corning Gorilla Glass (0.4-2mm), soda lime glass, aluminosilicate, and low iron glass. Any shape, thickness (0.4-3.9mm), and combination of surface treatments can be specified for each product. Whether you need a plain tempered flat panel, a specialty coated multi-layer glass, a custom screen printed overlay, or some mixture thereof, our production setup handles all of these.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

Our minimum order quantity is 200-500 pcs depending on product complexity, glass material, and coating configurations. We can produce as few as 50pcs for prototype validation and acceptance testing at no additional charge; these are processed on the same machinery as others to provide consistent sample-to-mass production replication. Mass-volume orders exceeding 100,000 units per month can be produced in our three manufacturing plants in Dongguan, Heyuan, and Henan.

How long does custom glass production take?

Sample and prototype orders are generally shipped within 7-10 business days of our engineering approval; mass orders require 15-25 business days depending on batch size, coating configuration, and glass stock availability. Completely custom multi-treatment coated samples take closer to the upper range of that estimate. Rushed production and shipping can be arranged for existing customers – simply contact us and we will let you know how we can meet your time-to-market requirements.

Do you offer AG, AR, and AF surface treatments?

Yes. Each of our three manufacturing plants has in-house capabilities for processing AG, AR, and AF coatings, as well as sub-laminations and screen printing. Our AG treatment uses a chemical etch with surface gloss levels of 5010 or 7010, haze between 4.7 and 11, and surface roughness Ra of 0.12-0.15. Our vacuum AR coating achieves >94% single-sided transmission and >98% double-sided. Our AF coating achieves a nano-water contact angle measurement of 105°. The treatments can be applied individually or stacked as a combination of AG+AR, AG+AF, or AR+AF; each layer must be deposited in the optimal order to preserve performance.

What quality certifications does SW Glass hold?

We maintain ISO 9001:2015 quality management certification covering our entire manufacturing process, EN 12150 European toughened safety glass certification with validated fragment test results, medical device biocompatibility reports per ISO 10993 (for healthcare use), and SEB Group manufacturing authorisation (Fortune Global 500 – parent of Supor and Tefal). SGS test reports for ROHS and REACH compliance are available upon request. These certifications demonstrate our industry compliance standards for our glass fabrication services/technical processes on all production runs.

Can you process Corning Gorilla Glass?

Yes. We are experienced in fabricating Corning Gorilla Glass using precision CNC cutting (0.05mm tolerance), edge polishing, chemical strengthening, and multi-layer coating (AG, AR, AF individually or sequentially/stacked). Gorilla Glass processing is available in 0.4-2mm thickness for application-specific scratch and drop performance specifications. Our Dongguan Tangxia factory specializes in Gorilla Glass substrates for touch panel and display cover glass processing, with dedicated process parameters calibrated for this material compared to more common soda lime or aluminosilicate type glasses.

What glass thickness range do you support?

Our fabrication range is 0.4mm-3.9mm. Chemical strengthening is available for 0.4-3.0mm thickness, while physical tempering is available on 3mm+ glasses (en 12150). Very thin glasses (<0.7mm) require chemical strengthening for mechanical toughness without imperfections (tempering is not possible at this thickness due to thermal stress). For cover glass applications, typical thickness choices are 0.55mm (wearables and small devices), 0.7mm (smartphones and tablets), 1.1mm (industrial HMI) and 2.0mm (ruggedized displays). Thicker sheets (>2mm) are usually booked for tempering into appliance and lighting panels.

Do you provide international shipping?

Yes. Our shipment packaging is customized for glass: individually vacuum sealed, foam-cushioned part carriers for glasses, double wall carton or wooden crate packaging (depending on order size and glass thickness). We specify packing list, complete QC report, measurement specifications, material certificates, and safety glass certifications on each shipment. We partner with air and sea freight forwarders able to deliver directly to your nominated destination; customs documents and commercial invoices are generated by our export department.
